BROW LAMINATION

You may have noticed pictures of full, slicked-up brows with a high-shine finish taking over your Instagram. Well, that's brow lamination and it’s the hot new treatment that everyone wants to try. The results speak for themselves, delivering fuller-looking brows without the need for your favorite eyebrow make-up products.

WHAT IS BROW LAMINATION?

Brow lamination takes your unruly or thinning brow hair and smooths it out while also lifting the hair in a more vertical direction. The end result is super smooth brows that look like you have brow gel on them. No matter what your brow concern is — gaps, thinning, overplucking, unruliness — brow lamination is an amazing solution and could be a great microblading alternative.

WHAT IS THE BROW LAMINATION PROCESS LIKE?

Brow lamination is basically a perm for your brows, as it gives them a set, uniform shape for an extended period of time. Instead of curls, a setting lotion helps brow hair stay brushed up and lifted upward for approximately 8 weeks. You can wake up every morning with bolder, fuller brows in a beautiful shape for up to two months! The actual process starts off by applying a lifting cream onto the brow, which creates a chemical process that breaks down bonds in each hair, allowing them to be moved into a new shape. Next, the brow hairs are brushed up into place and a neutralizer is applied to reform the bonds into their new shape. A nourishing oil is then added to the brows to replenish their moisture after the chemical treatment process.

HOW DO I TAKE CARE OF MY BROWS AFTER LAMINATION?

With this in mind, conditioning and nourishing the brows afterward in the same way we do with our hair after chemically treating it is essential. Although the overall results give you a low-maintenance look, just be sure to keep the health of your brows in mind. For the first 24 hours after your treatment, avoid getting your brows wet, steam, sweating, makeup and skin care products on the brow area. Also avoid retinol, exfoliators and self-tanners for 72 hours pre and post appointment.

WHICH BROW TYPES BENEFIT MOST FROM BROW LAMINATION?

All hair types and face shapes can get in on the fluffy brow trend via lamination, though you do need to have natural brow hair. The beauty of this service is that it can be customized to each person’s face shape, eye shape, and desired brow shape. Although the brushed-up, bold and fluffy brow tends to be quite popular, brows can be laminated in a variety of different ways. If you prefer a more neat and tidy look, you can request for your brow hairs to be styled by being brushed to the side and tapered together at the ends. Laminating the brow hairs upwards can create a nice lift to the eye, especially when the natural hairs tend to grow downwards.

It's amazing for thin hair, because it strengthens and thickens the hair. It's great for thick hair because it tames and smoothes. For curly hair, it really irons out the texture and straightens. The more you laminate, the easier it becomes. As you continue to regularly have this treatment done, the better your hair will relax and laminate! Which means fluffy, lifted, and defined brows are in your future!
